Product Description

The Polka 'S gibt nur a Kaiserstadt, 's gibt nur a Wien (There's only One Emperor's City, there's only One Vienna) exists in two versions. The first one ist purely for orchestra, the second for choir with orchestra. The orchestral version premiered on 8 October 1864 in Pavlovsk near St. Petersburg in Russia with the original title Vergißmeinnicht-Polka. For the first performance in Vienna it was changed to its current title as tribute to Johann Strauss' hometown and the emperor reigning there. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original composition for orchestra. It was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2015 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria.
