Product Description

The Spanish March was written in 1888 and was dedicated to Spanish regent Maria Christina, who expressed her gratitude with a high Spanish award for Johann Strauss. Date and place of the march's premiere are unknown, but Johann's brother Eduard performed it on 21 October 1888 at he Vienna Musikverein. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for orchestra and was commissioned and first performed by Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer on 6 January 2014 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/eine-musikalische-reise-von-wien-ueber-spanien-nach-lateinamerika/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/eine-musikalische-reise/hnum/10428724?iampartner=303&subid=umr65&ref=partner.jpc.de .
