Product Description

The comic operetta "Eine Nacht in Venedig" (A Night in Venice) premiered on 3 October 1883 in Berlin, but was not successful there, so it was reworked for the Vienna premiere. The Lagunen-Walzer (Lagoon Waltz) got its name from the Berlin version, but its final form with the tenor Caramello as soloist and with new lyrics originate from the Vienna version. The song "Ach, wie so herrlich zu schau'n, sind all die reizenden Frau'n" serves also as main theme for the instrumental waltz op. 411 of the same name for orchestra. This arrangement in the original key of the orchestral version was commissioned by Salzburg Wind Philharmonic, principal conductor Hansjoerg Angerer and premiered at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2024 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. Thai born tenor Nutthaporn Thammati performed the solo part. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/dreikonigskonzert-2024-aus-den-bergen/ . Albert Schwarzmann also arranged the little different version for orchestra of this waltz op. 411 for Symphonic Band.
