Product Description

Im russischen Dorfe (In the Russian Village) called a Fantasy was intended by Johann Strauss Jr. for a further trip to Russia, hence the title. But the composer broke an already concluded contract, because he preferred to visit the U.S.A. for the World Peace Jubilee and an international music festival in Boston. It premierd after his return on 17 September 1872 in Baden-Baden in Germany. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2009 at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/von-der-donau-bis-zur-wolga/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/von-der-donau-zur-wolga/hnum/10428691?iampartner=303&subid=umr37&ref=partner.jpc.de .
