An impression of an Impressionist piano solo, combining elements of both Debussy and Ravel. Both of them had a penchant for modal melody, but the similarities stopped there. This piece uses the close juxtaposition of sharply contrasting harmonic and melodic colors and shapes that Debussy favored, along with the graceful stately rhythm and clear accompaniment of Ravel. Some double sharps throughout, as is to be expected of a chromatic piece in B Major. The Impressionist composers favored sharps rather than flats, so we have obliged them here.
