Product Description
Lili Boulanger, the first woman to win the Prix de Rome, used her impressionistic composing style to create innovative and colorful harmonies in her "Old Buddhist Prayer", originally for mixed chorus, tenor solo and orchestra, now spectacularly arranged for brass choir that highlights her contrapuntal use of multiple melodies enhanced with her creative harmonies. With its atmospheric beginning through joyous declamations that highlight the original text of "Let all living things at last attain peace and joy", Boulanger's tribute to the human spirit is justly proclaimed by the stirring sonorities of the brass ensemble. The arrangement is scored for four B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, four horns, two tenor trombones, one bass trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion. The recording is of the entire edition.
