Product Description

Lili Boulanger, the first woman to win the Prix de Rome, influenced by Debussys and Faures compositional approaches, composed the powerful and dramatic "For the Funeral of a Soldier" ("Pour les funérailles d'un Soldat") in 1912 for orchestra and chorus with impassioned sections of thrilling boldness contrasted with those of calm serenity, now arranged for brass choir with prominent low brass scoring.
The work is scored for four B-flat trumpets with alternate trumpet parts in C, four horns, three trombones, euphonium, tuba, timpani and three percussion (tenor drum, tubular bells, gong). The recording is of the entire edition.
