Product Description
Lili Boulanger, the first woman to win the Prix de Rome, used her impressionistic composing style to create innovative and colorful harmonies in her "Hymn to the Sun", originally for mixed chorus, alto and piano. This new brass ensemble arrangement highlights her homophonic chords dramatically depicting the rising morning sun, then transitions through unexpected harmonic progressions ending in a final joyous declamation of the sun's power, all achieved with the stirring sonorities of the brass ensemble. The brass choir arrangement is scored for four B-flat trumpets with alternate C trumpet parts, four horns, two tenor and one bass trombones, euphonium and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition.
