I am not a huge fan of Gustav Mahler's symphonies. But I love his orchestral song cycles, like Kindertotenlieder, Das Lied Von der Erde, Rückert-Lieder, etc.

When my colleague Steve Wilson requested that I do a new cycle in German I immediately thought I would try my hand on a tenor and piano version of Mahler's "Das Lied." The Mahler version is about an hour long. Mine is much shorter at 29 minutes, without all the orchestral interludes that Mahler indulged in ... LOL!
