I am not a moviegoer. But when I discovered that the infamous Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini was also a prolific writer and poet, I immediately went on a quest to look for his work. I bought the "Selected Poetry of Pier Paolo Pasolini" in a bilingual edition published by the University of Chicago Press. In it I found something that really resonated with me (I being a lapsed Catholic) called "La Passione." After reading the Italian version and the English translation by Stephen Sartarelli, I immediately thought of JS Bach's Saint John Passion and felt a kinship between the texts in the Pasolini "Passion" and those by JS Bach.

My version is not for chorus, soloists and orchestra as the Bach model, but in a simpler format: a duo for soprano and piano
