Product Description
"A Winters Tale" was written by Mike Batt and Tim Rice in the space of about a month, in late 1982. It had been requested by David Essex who was looking for a Christmas hit. It spent 10 weeks in the UK charts, peaking at number 2. David Essex later included the track on his album "The Whisper".
I arranged this piece because it was one of my mum's favourite Christmas tunes and I wanted to acknowledge the support so many brass players get from their families.
This arrangement is a flugelhorn solo, first performed by Liz Oxley of Horbury Victoria Band. The ensemble parts should hold back until the tutti chorus in the coda, which features a rock drum rhythm and a euphonium counter-melody.
The solo can be taken by principal cornet if desired.
Alternate clef trombone parts are provided, plus a tutti flugelhorn part for use when played as a cornet solo.
