Left-hand modified Alberti figures, with changing tones in contrary motion in both treble and bass. Augmented and flatted fifth chords are worked in with a melodic emphasis. Also, single notes and thirds in treble, with accompanying lower-voice movements. The piece has an urgency as well as harmonic richness. The Prelude was not really a major form of the Classical Period, sonatas, rondos, and other single movements being more of a staple. So, I have put some classical devices into the typical concise patterning characteristic of the Prelude genre. Duration about a minute and a half, or longer if slower.
