Product Description

"Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun) is a symphonic poem for orchestra by Claude Debussy, composed in 1894 and first performed in Paris on 22 December that year. The piece draws inspiration from a poem of the same name by Stéphane Mallarmé and is one of Debussy's most famous works, with the music also being used for ballets by Nijinsky and Jerome Robbins. This transcription for symphonic wind ensemble retains the original key and there is a substitute part for piano if a harp is not available (the original orchestral part can be used if desired). Two clarinets will need A as well as B Flat instruments. This challenging piece will require a lot of rehearsal to bring out the multitude of details, but the results will surely be worth it.
