The melody (possibly a love song to his wife, Alma) is characterized by sighing motive and long suspensions which are stretched to their breaking point before they resolve. The audio sample includes both versions for you to hear: first without Harp, and then with the Harp. There is nothing like the sound of Mahler performed on brass.
