A sacred hymn with reference to the Savior's appearance in the Americas shortly after his resurrection in Jerusalem. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Kathryn W. Hales. See text below:
Messengers traveling through the night,
Sent by Nephi, was the prophets name,
To spread the word to our village
That the risen Lord to them came.
We too now were invited
To travel through the darkened night
And join Believers in Bountiful
That we might see this wondrous sight.
"You must come quickly," was the plea,
"There is no time for delay,
For the Savior said Hed return
To visit us again this day."
What should I take? Am I prepared?
Am I worthy in His sight?
Who shall stay to guard the flocks?
So little time in dark of night.
Along the trail I often stumble,
The flickering torch gives shadowed light,
My eyes are heavy, my feet sore,
But I trudge onward through the night.
Will He really come to the Temple?
Will my simple faith sustain?
Does our guide truly know the way?
Will my journey be in vain?
The dawn approaches through dim skies,
The Temple is within my view
Bathed in rays of sunrise glory
Clothed in heavens radiant hues.
In meekness the disciples gather,
Calling on all to kneel and pray,
Then with light brighter than sun,
My Lord appears that holy day.
Today the centuries span between
That event by prophets told,
When Jesus appeared to Nephites,
"Other sheep" of His fold.
I too am traveling through the night,
In a dark world full of sin.
When will Christ come to us?
When will the Millennium begin?
I know not how long the road
Til that Blessed Day will come,
When faith reveals knowledge pure
Of Gods Only Begotten Son.
I may stumble along the path,
But if I follow the prophets light,
I will someday see His face,
If I keep traveling through the night.
