What is the state of my soul?
What will it take to make me whole?
Can I be forgiven of my sins?
Will I ever return Home again?
Joseph asked such questions,
Pondered them day by day,
And read the Holy Scriptures
Before he went to pray.
In solitude one spring morning,
In humility he did kneel
Amidst the trees and flowers
That Gods wisdom might be revealed
Darkness gathered round him,
In fear he could not speak;
Then a pillar of light descended,
Even the very God whom he did seek,
Calling the lad by name,
Then introducing His Beloved Son.
Joseph saw and learned eternal truth,
The existence of Holy Ones.
What is the state of my soul?
What will it take to make me whole?
Can I be forgiven of my sins?
Will I ever return Home again?
Joseph received his answers
In a great theophany;
But what if I have questions-
Will God also speak to me?
Perhaps not with such magnitude,
But with gentleness and peace;
The questions and doubts that plague me
Can now find sweet release.
I may not see God or Jesus,
But they are real to me;
Through the Plan of Salvation
My path I may clearly see.
Through faith and repentance,
Enduring to the end,
In their presence Ill live forever,
Returning Home again.
Christ is my Redeemer,
The Savior of my soul,
Through His great love and mercy,
I again am whole.
