A sacred hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann Snowball. See text below:
If I had knelt at Calvary that day when Jesus died,
If I had seen his agony when He was crucified,
If I had heard his pleas for peace when others mocked his name,
Would I have bowed my sorry head or scoffed his stinging pain?
If I had watched at Calvary the death of Jesus Christ,
If I had heard his last few words without a compromise,
If I had listened to his prayer when seeking pure relief,
Would I have looked away in shame, or shared his holy grief?
If I had been at Calvary that day when Jesus died,
I would have thanked Him graciously for all He sacrificed.
I would have helped Him lift that cross and walked right by his side.
I would have wiped his bleeding brow and helped Him to abide.
I would have peered through tear-stained eyes and given Him my soul,
Then promised Him my perfect love till He could make me whole.
I would have sought forgiveness and in all things would confide,
If I had knelt at Calvary that day when Jesus died.
