Product Description

Born in Nuremberg, Hans Leo Hassler (1564-1612) went to Venice at the age of 20 where he studied with Andrea Gabrieli, along with Andrea's nephew Giovanni, with whom he became friends. The friendship lasted after Hassler returned to Germany the following year, and there is evidence of at least one collaborative composition with Gabrieli. His final post was as Kapellmeister in Dresden, and after his death he was replaced by Michael Praetorius and Heinrich Schütz. Hassler's four part motet 'Cantate Domino' is an exciting setting of the traditional Catholic text, taken from Psalm 96. It is well suited to being voiced by four trombones. Item number: DM 2976 MP3 sound file is produced from Sibelius.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
