Product Description

Purcell wrote a number of movements of "Theatre Music" for the play" The Gordion Knot Untied" ,which is believed to be based on the legend concerning Alexander the Great.The Libretto has been lost.

Originally written for strings only, Gustav Holst added woodwind, horns and trumpets, and set them into two suites.
I have arranged the first suite for recorder quintet.

They are: Overture, Air, Rondeau-Minuet, Air and Jig. This music suits the recorder ensemble. If you like Baroque music, give it a try.
