Product Description
Crater, the Cup, is the two-handled chalice of Apollo. In the Greek myth, Apollo sends Corvus, his sacred bird, to fetch water for the sacrifice to Zeus. At the spring, Corvus dilly dallies, waiting for some tempting figs to ripen. Several days later, having enjoyed the sweet treats, he returns to Apollo, and fibs about his lateness by blaming the water snake (Hydra) which he has carried back with him. Apollo, perceiving the truth, hurls all three into the sky- cup, crow, serpent- and condemns the crow to eternal thirst. This Intermediate Piano Solo can be paired alongside Corvus and Hydra, all from 88 Constellations a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano). Performance Time 1 minute. 2 pages. (General Instructional, Modern, Modal, Repertoire, Recital)
