Product Description

Number ten from the set of intermediate piano preludes.

Swashbuckler: A character who is skilled in swordsmanship, acrobatics, and guile, and possesses chivalrous ideals. A "swashbuckler" protagonist is heroic, daring, and idealistic: he rescues damsels in distress, protects the downtrodden, and uses duels to defend his honor or that of a lady or to avenge a comrade. (From Wikipedia) Some more modern day examples of this film genre are "The Princess Bride," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "The Mask of Zorro" and the Indiana Jones movies. (Well...maybe not exactly modern day. )
In this short prelude, I tried to capture not only the excitement, but the romance of the swashbuckler genre of movies. It begins with the sound of danger as the hero uses his skills and wit to fight his way in to rescue the "damsel in distress." You can almost hear the swords clashing against one another until the mood changes and our champion has found his way to the fair maiden. After a few moments of tenderness, they must now fight their way back through the brigands to eventual freedom, swinging from the ship full of scoundrels to his own boat waiting to whisk them to freedom.
