Product Description

Celtic Romance was written for solo euphonium and wind band (although versions with other soloists will be prepared). The mood is lyrical and the phrasing smooth, with an emphasis on expressive tone rather than agility or exploiting extremes of register (although the solo part does rise to a high C above the stave). Much use is made of the flattened seventh of the scale to give a Celtic feel in most solo sections, while the full band plays in-between sections (interludes) with normal tonal harmony to provide contrast. Haunting melodies make this piece a favourite with bands and audiences. The piece is due to be premiered later this year in Brazil.
