Product Description

The Prelude to Act 3 from the opera Lohengrin became also a very successful concert piece. The opera premiered on 28 August 1850 at the Grand Ducal Court Theatre in Weimar, Germany, conducted by Franz Liszt. As in the opera the prelude directly merges with the famous bridal marc, ist is necessary to create an own end for concert purposes. Here it was made with material of the opera. This arrangement was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg on 17 May 2014 and repeated under the new name Salzburg Wind Philharmonic at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2025 in the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. Live recordings of both concerts are available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/die-macht-des-schicksals/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/die-macht-des-schicksals/hnum/10428727?iampartner=303&subid=umr2&ref=partner.jpc.de and https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/happy-birthday-johann-strauss/ .
