I wrote this piece a few weeks ago and didn't have a title for it. Tragically my brother in law passed away far too young and I thought it would be a nice idea to dedicate it to him. He was my brother in law from France but he referred to me simply as his brother. I didn't get to spend enough time with him but he was a lovely man who thought the world of both his own family and the family he married into. I could say a lot of great things about him but I'm not good with words and prefer to say it with my music.
This tune is a ballad with a largely arpeggiated left hand. It's sentimental and nostalgic but I think not excessively so. I take it through several modulations. I don't include fingering, dynamics and pedal marks, preferring to leave these to the discretion of the individual pianist and to present the music as uncomplicated as possible.
I hope you enjoy learning it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
