Product Description

This arrangement of "Charade" is as performed by legendary piano artist, Liberace First time ever in print; here is the famous song, composed by Henry Mancini; with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, with all of the elegant piano runs just as Liberace performed them.

"Charade" is a Parisian waltz with music by Henry Mancini and lyrics by Johnny Mercer performed in the 1963 film of the same name starring Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. It was nominated that year for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.  Henry Mancini's version reached #15 on the adult contemporary chart and #36 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. (Lyrics Below):

When we played our charade
We were like children posing
Playing at games, acting out names
Guessing the parts we played

Oh what a hit we made
We came on next to closing
Best on the bill, lovers until
Love left the masquerade

Fate seemed to pull the strings

I turned and you were gone
While from the darkened wings
the music box played on.

Sad little serenade
Song of my heart's composing
I hear it still, I always will
Best on the bill
Charade

The song was prominently featured in the Columbo fifth-season episode "Now You See Him..." It is sung twice onscreen by a cabaret singer (portrayed by Patrick Culliton) and later plays in an instrumental version over the episode's closing credits.
