Product Description

BWV 995 is Bach's own transcription of his Cello Suite, BWV 1011, for lute, which was probably a 14-course lute (26 strings) with a compass which is a fourth lower than the lowest note on a typical 5-octave keyboard - so it's not an easy task to squeeze it onto just 4 strings. However, it is well worth it because it is probably the finest music ever composed for the lute (with due respect to Dowland and Weiss). This arrangement is a sort of halfway house between the lute version and the cello version, which omits the lowest basses and has simpler harmonisation. The notation is for Baritone ukulele, though the tab will work just as well on any low-G ukulele.
