Product Description
This string quartet has five movements: Canada, America, Mexico, Brazil and Mayan. Each movement has some connection to its country, except "Mayan".
"America" is based on the hymn "What Wondrous Love Is This" from the Southern Harmony shaped note hymnal of 1835. It is a beautiful hymn, to which I have tried to do justice.
The harmony tends toward parallel fourths, which is true to the original. It is perhaps the easiest of the five movements, but is still a challenge to coax out the quiet emotion of the work.
This quartet is appropriate for advanced high school or college level musicians. The movements are independent of each other, allowing you to build a piece of a certain length.
All together it takes about 13-15 minutes.
