Product Description
Toccata On EGD For Piano is a rhythmically energising work that is based on EGD, but not on EGDD#G#F, its main note row. The main melody starts with EGDC#EB, and is also played in the reverse order. This melodic configuration is repeated at bars 74-81. From measures 82-94, the overall sound intensity decreases, as well as the slowing of the speed. Between bars 94 and 95, the quarter and half rests separate the second last notes and the loud E major sixth chord, which gives a surprise ending to the piece.
Structure of the six-note row:
E G D D# G# F
C# E B C F D
F# A E F A# G
F G# D# E A F#
C D# A# B E C#

The purpose of writing this piece, based on EGD, is to show how a simple motive is expanded by applying various compositional techniques.
