Product Description
This swinging rendition of the
theme from the childrens hit television show was arranged in 1971 by Gene
Puerling and recorded by The Singers Unlimited with the
Oscar Peterson Trio on their album In Tune (and contained in the Magic
Voices box set). This is NOT a transcription, but an authentic edition
created from the handwritten manuscript of Gene Puerling. The fun-loving nature
of the song is maintained from the original television show theme song, with up
to six parts in the ensemble vocal parts.
The PDF you purchase contains Editor's Notes, a Director's Score, Vocal Part (with combined rhythm reference staff), and individual parts for Piano, Bass, and Drums. Rhythm section parts are written in classic jazz notation, with a mix of
slashes/rhythmic notation with chord symbols and some essential notes and guide
lines, capturing the essence of the OP Trios performance. Shorter in length (under 3 minutes) and with
less full ensemble writing than many other Puerling charts, this piece gives plenty
of opportunities to work on unisons and energetic swing feel from the vocalists
as well as a nice feature for the pianist (Level IV).
