One of Scheidts most popular works and a typical example of the extensive use of imitation characteristic of the period. Much of the time the trumpets are in canon, the second echoing the first. The third and fourth parts, although easy, are rather relentless and could profitably be shared between players when there are more than five available. Horn in Eb, Euphonium in C and Bb, Trombone in Bb and Bass in Bb and Eb parts are provided as alternatives for brass band players. The score is at concert pitch.
