Product Description

Gustav Holst composed Christmas Day: Fantasy on Old Carols in 1910 for organ, orchestra, and chorus. In this delightful and artfully crafted medley, Holst skillfully weaves together several mostly well-known carols: Good Christian Men Rejoice, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, The First Nowell, and a traditional Breton melody set to the text of Come Ye Lofty, Come Ye Lowly. The result is a beautiful and creative musical tapestry that captures the spirit of the season.

This arrangement for horn quartet has been transposed down a whole step to better suite the range and tonality of the french horn and provides solo/melody lines throughout the piece for each of the four horn players.

Christmas Day is a charming and festive piece, ideal for holiday performances, that is unique and enjoyable to perform.
