John Jenkins (1592-1678) was the greatest of the composers for consorts of viols, though his works are little-known outside the viol-playing community.
I think this Fantasia (and No.5) are the best of his numerous pieces for four viols and they work very well on four guitars. The Fantasia is based on a popular song of the time: 'All in a Garden Green'.
