Product Description

Philip Paul Bliss was a 19th Century American composer and conductor born in Pennsylvania. He was also an Abolishionist and served as a Commissioned Officer in the Civil War. The hymn was inspired by both the Battle of Allatoona Pass (October 1864), as well as by Revelatio 2:25 & 3:11. Sections A and C are the verse. Section B and D are the refrain. Between B and C, there is a key modulation with the aid of an augmented sixth chord (Itallian 6th). A descant by yours truly is then added.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
