In this brief but boisterous organ postlude on the chorale "Mit Freuden zart" (subtitled "...renn zum Ausfahrt!"), the manuals play a dense jumble of imitated motives from the chorale, while the pedals thunder out the cantus firmus in long notes. The c.f. has been modernized a little by occasionally sharpening the 4th degree and flattening the 6th and 7th! Also contributing to the modern flavour of the piece are the frequent 2-against-3 cross-rhythms, which result from the tripling of the eighth-note values in the triple-time chorale melody.
