This piece is taken from the opera "La gazza ladra" by Gioacchino Rossini, and the Ouverture is the very beginning that opens the opera.
This is a very known and also one of the most popular pieces by Rossini, which cannot be missing in the symphonic repertoire. That Ouverture is opened by three fast drumrolls. Then, the Allegro that is concluted by an ending coda, eith a very fast rhythm and a festive character.
This versio is written for clarinet ensamble and percussion, a rich chamber group that evokes the orchestra sonority.
