Philadelphia-based composer Melissa Dunphy first received national attention in 2009 when her large-scale work The Gonzales Cantata was featured in The Wall Street Journal and on The Rachel Maddow Show, and has since forged a career writing vocal, political, and theatrical music. Commissions include works for The King's Singers, VOCES 8, Cantus, Chor Leoni, the BBC Singers, and Oberlin Conservatory Opera Theater. Dunphy has a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.M. from West Chester University and teaches at Rutgers University. Along with her husband, Matt, she hosts the podcast The Boghouse about the couple’s adventures in colonial archaeology.
