Laurent Jacquier, Composer
Born in Grenoble in 1966, Laurent Jacquier began his musical journey with electric guitar and rock music. He later studied composition with François Luzignant at the National Conservatory of Grenoble, where he earned three gold medals in harmony, counterpoint, and fugue.
He continued his studies at the Paris National Conservatory (CNSMDP), where he obtained certificates in analysis and orchestration. He also studied jazz harmony and arrangement with Pierre Drevet at the Chambéry Conservatory. Additionally, he holds a Master’s degree (Research, Arts – Music specialization) from Bordeaux III University.
An eclectic composer, he works across a wide range of fields: instrumental music, contemporary dance, theatre, chanson, popular music, and film scoring, particularly for documentary films.
From 2008 to 2012, he collaborated with the Colorado Wind Ensemble in Denver and its conductor Matthew Roeder. He gave lectures for the composition class at Metro State University of Denver and was also invited as composer-in-residence at the La Rochelle Conservatory for the 2009/2010 academic year.
The diversity of these experiences and encounters has enriched his music, which lies at the crossroads of classical, contemporary, and traditional genres.
Also a dedicated educator, he teaches in various French conservatories.
