This arrangement provides a long-awaited opportunity to introduce the very youngest pianist to melodies composed by women in the time period usually associated with the music of Brahms and Tchaikovsky. Clara Schumann was one of the best concert pianists of her time, and composed chamber music, choral pieces, and songs in addition to solo piano pieces. She married the composer Robert Schumann and often premiered both his music and the music of Johannes Brahms. After he husband's early death, she became an influential piano educator and continued to tour as a concert pianist.
