"Pifilka" is the name of a Mapuche musical instrument that imitates the sound of birds. It can produce a max. of 2 sounds and for this reason it has a rhythmic function in Mapuche music. In this piece allusion is made to this instrument in an attempt to reproduce sonorities of Mapuche rituals that make a contrast within a peaceful "Chilean Tonada".
