Do you have any biblical passages that you think of in difficult times? I always think of the passage from Numbers 6:24-26 that begins with "The Lord bless you and keep you." This verse has held a special place in my heart since my university days, when I heard John Rutter's choral work "The Lord Bless You and Keep You". The song moved me so much that I thought to myself, "One day I will compose a piece based on this verse."

While my long-held promise was certainly a factor in my ability to compose this piece, another factor was the influence of Father Andreas Lee Sang-cheol, a priest who is responsible for the Korean Catholic Composers Association. The piece was first performed at the Association's "2015 Sacred Music Concert", which was arranged as a tribute to Father Andreas Sang-Cheol Lee that year. He was a source of blessing and encouragement for me during my university days, and I wanted to create a song that would bless him in return. It was during this process that the words from Numbers 6:24-26 naturally came to mind, and that's how I was able to create this song.

The piano accompaniment that runs throughout the piece was intended to express the gentle love and blessings of the Lord that flow through our lives like waves. To those who listen to this "The Lord bless you and keep you" I pray that you may always feel and be filled with the gentle waves of the Lord's blessings that are flowing around you.
