This is a Flute Solo with Piano Accompaniment arrangement of the sacred song "Amazing Grace" by John Newton and Virginia Harmony. I have included musical directional guidance such as dynamics, expressions texts, etc. These help the performer play it with as much ease as possible. The viola part for this arrangement has been made easy.
John Newton was someone that experienced God's Amazing Grace. His early life consisted of rampant wickedness-- things from heavy drinking in his teens to being a slave trading ship captain. After becoming violently ill, he finally abandons that life of wickedness and devotes the rest of it in service to God. It was around 1764 when John Newton penned the words to this song. He was one that could not only speak these words, but wholeheartedly feel their meaning in his life. The first verse of this arrangement consists of a more reserved and laid-back sound. As it transitions into verse two, the arrangement becomes mournful and sad, which depict the words "through many dangers, toils, and snares..." Finally, the arrangement ends with a hopeful and joyous section that reminds the performer and listeners of the hope of God's amazing grace and, ultimately, Heaven.
