UK Brass Band Format: Serges Circus. The Day The Circus Caught Fire.

This is band room musical anarchy, it is mad, it is made for the band to enjoy and to enjoy its ridiculousness in both its musical hilarity as well as its technical stretch. I have written one work like this called "A slow ride in a static machine, the M25" (have a listen here: https://soundcloud.com/philw-lawrence/04-a-slow-ride-in-a-static )
It is a story of true chaos and madness on a day when all should go well. Serge, the name given by myself is after Prokofiev following his often mad orchestration and harmony and key changes, not to mention a xylophone duet (but can do without), but this goes further. Not only does the circus catch fire but in the acts before we have classic musician foibles and stories. At one point the bass trombone not only comes in early a semitone out but in a gap on his/her own at fff. Euph stands in wrong place to give a classic solo and fluffs the valving and band tells him/her to shut and sit down. Then for the basses probably one of the best elephant tunes written so far, then it is time for a drunken solo tribune to give an obligato with the direction of "Slide approximato", written splits and the direction of :Crude" while Sop gives us a typical Sousa obligato. After this we are to hell in a handcart -  clowns trouser are on fires with monkeys chasing and elephants groaning, horses whinnying, the band master tries to increase the tempo due to the chaotic scramble -  trapeze artists are falling out the sky landing in buckets of water. This is a piece for the band to enjoy and laugh out loud. If you get it to a concert be prepared jaw-dropped silence in response. And this at a special price for you all, just to enjoy! I have inc. an mp3 of the Sib file to give you an idea of the work here.
