I wrote this song cycle for my friend Brian Calhoon, who sings in the style of Chet Baker and is a fabulous percussionist. In this work he and an assistant play vibraphone, marimba, triangle, tom-toms, wood blocks and gong.

The seven Robert Creeley poems are:

3. Zero ...
4. The Measure ...
5. Jack's Blues ...
6. The Rhythm ...
7. The End.
