Ukulele and vocal arrangement of Train's Hey, Soul Sister from Uke n Rolls Take It To The Chorus series, which uses "hooks" or "choruses" from popular songs as musical training wheels to take the students newfound skills into action right away. Although not complete arrangements, Take It To The Chorus is the perfect arena to test out new chords, strums, and fingerpicking. Both ukulele community groups and students in classroom settings can start out their session by playing the song as warm ups. Sure scales are important, but wouldnt it be more fun to warm those fingers and vocal chords to songs that rock?

For newbies and younger students, mix the session up by splitting the group or class into two or three sections. Each section only plays one chord selected from the song. This can turn into a friendly competition and helps the flow of warm ups run smoothly in real time instead of starting and stopping the song.
