Product Description

2015 Piano Contest This traditional English carol is arranged with a four-note ostinato in the left hand. It begins with a pickup note,so as to shift it one 1/8 note off the beat, causing it to phase throughout the piece. It has been so constructed that the beginnings of new phases coincide with the shifts in the text, melody, and harmony. A neat trick, if I do say so! The treble begins with chimes in 5ths, and proceeds to the tune, with a lower alternating tone between each main melody note. This is all that is needed to both anchor the rhythm and indicate the harmonic shift from major to minor. Each melody tone has a double-note, stems up and down, to distinguish it from the "place-holder" notes that are used to keep the motion continuous, as per the style. Pedal throughout. Intermediate Level. MP3 MIDI audio. MBB
