Product Description
An intermediate level arrangement for medium voice and pedal harp of Lelia N. Morris's beautiful hymn "Nearer, Still Nearer." Arranged by Rebekah Lanier, this makes a beautiful and very accessible selection for church services, weddings, and other events. A full recording of the arrangement is available the album Songs in the Night, available on iTunes and Amazon Music.
This arrangement has three verses; it begins in the key of Db major and modulates to Eb major for the third verse. The harp accompaniment is chords and gentle arpeggiation, with a few glissandos. There are some pedal changes, but never more than one per measure. The voice part ranges from Db above middle C to Eb an octave above middle C and follows the hymn's original melody.
Complete lyrics:
Nearer, still nearer, close to thy heart,
draw me, my Savior, so precious thou art.
Fold me, O fold me close to thy breast;
shelter me safe in that haven of rest,
shelter me safe in that haven of rest.
Nearer, still nearer, nothing I bring,
naught as an offering to Jesus my King -
only my sinful, now contrite heart;
grant me the cleansing thy blood doth impart,
grant me the cleansing thy blood doth impart.
Nearer, still nearer, while life shall last,
till safe in glory my anchor is cast;
through endless ages, ever to be
nearer, my Savior, still nearer to thee,
nearer, my Savior, still nearer to thee.
