The
Banks of the Bann
Traditional
Irish Melody arranged for solo guitar by Dan Jones
The lyrics of this beautiful Irish melody tell of a mans
journey to win the love of a girl by the banks of the river Bann in Ireland,
despite his lower social standing in comparison to her.
The
melody has been used for two popular hymns: Be Thou My Vision and Lord
of All Hopefulness.
This setting is in three sections. The first has the melody
in the upper voice, the second the in the bass and the third has elements of counterpoint between the two voices.
