Product Description

Turlough O'Carolan, Ireland's most revered harp composer, wrote this piece in honour of George Brabazon (or at least this is the way his name is spelled today). This arrangement is for 3 harps, or groups of harps.

All play harp 1 the first time through. The notation gives an old style of playing music which Ann Heymann calls "coupled hands" and which I call plain fun! The hands are integrated, with the left playing beats 1 and 4 (6/8 time) and the right hand adding the little notes. This is a great technique with which to play fast music, although we usually play this one a little more moderately. (If you do decide to play it quickly, harp 3 may be solid chords rather than rolled.)

The 2nd time through harp and 3 continue the melody, while harp 2 adds their part. This part is also very accessible for beginners who are not up to harp 1.

Third time harp 3 adds their part, while 1 and 2 repeat. It finally resolves in a joyous chord at the very end.

The words, also by Carolan, are in Irish, but roughly translated speak of George Brabazon as a wonderful fellow and invite us to raise a glass to his health. It would be especially appropriate to play at a celebration.  It is written in score format.
