Although its origins are unknown, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean is a popular Scottish song, has been covered by artists all over globe, from Bing Crosby, The Chieftains, Ray Charles, and has been featured in The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny, and Wolfenstein: The New Order among many others. It was first published in 1881 in the US, although was popular for many years beforehand.
The lyrics concern the Jacobite supporters of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who after his defeat at the battle of Culloden, might have sung this song openly about him, due to the ambiguity of the words.
Lyrics to all four verses are included along with a suggested piano part which includes the melody, although if you'd prefer, you can play the chords on the guitar, ukulele or on any other instrument.
