Product Description

L'Hymne du Pape was written in 1864 by the great Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. It was written in honor of Pope Pius IX who was the Pope at that time. Liszt himself was then living in a monastery outside of Rome and had recently take Orders. For about 10 years he was in the religious phase of his life where he wrote sacred music. This piece was written for piano solo, but Liszt liked it so much that he did a version for pipe organ and soon thereafter a version for piano duet and then for chorus and orchestra.
I have now done arrangements for both instrumental duet and instrumental quintet. (available separately). I have tried to emphasize the dignity and grandeur of the piece. This makes a great processional, whether for wedding, graduation, or formal religious service. Also perfect for student recitals to show ensemble playing.
2 octave range in all parts, 2 1/2 in lowest part
4:00 minutes (with an optional D.S. which would create a 7 minute piece)
Duet: 3 page score, 2 page parts
Quintet: 7 page score, 2 page parts
